Freedom Caregivers was created after two careers spanning decades of home health nursing and therapy realized a local deficit. So many of our rural families were straining to care for their aging loved ones. Sometimes, families had become very spread out across the state or country. Other times, schedules, careers, and their own family needs, simply did not leave enough time for a parent's increasing needs. In nearly all of these situations the aging adult wanted only to stay in their home where they were free to live on their terms, but needed some help.
On August 30, 2012, Joanne Yeater, RN and Jason Eibling, PT convened a project group to investigate how they could help. Wyandot County was too rural to attract one of the large home care franchise operations. As our small group of leaders looked at the need it became apparent that with their years serving the healthcare needs of this community, there were resources that could come together to meet this need. After 14 months of coffee shop meetings, a lot of hard work, and a big vision, Freedom Caregivers opened in downtown Upper Sandusky on November 1, 2013!
